About Us

South End artist Robert Rovenolt in the Studio

New Art Love is an innovative social enterprise that fosters meaningful connections between artists and art lovers. Unlike other online art galleries and stores, New Art Love appreciates the importance of in-person experience and makes it easier for art lovers to visit art studios and venues while simultaneously offering purchasing convenience.

The first non-profit platform of its kind, New Art Love provides mobile art apps that present art lovers with new opportunities for both discovering and experiencing original art they love and an online marketplace that not only makes it possible to reconnect with the artists they’ve discovered but has the potential to become a comprehensive directory of contemporary artists whose work you can see in person. Our goal is to empower art lovers to connect in new and meaningful ways with an expansive cloud-based community of contemporary artists whose work is accessible both online as well as in the studio, gallery or museum.

Our Story

New Art Love was co-founded in the summer of 2012 by artists Liora Beer and Kelly Sherman. The original concept was born out of the nonprofit ARTMORPHEUS, the current parent of the social enterprise. The initial plan was to create an online platform that would unify contemporary art venues, artists and art lovers for community and commerce and it was selected by MassChallenge to participate in the world’s largest start-up accelerator.

As award winning artists themselves, Beer and Sherman knew that accessing the art market presented a significant challenge even amongst highly acclaimed artists, and after conducting consumer research with a variety of enthusiasts, they realized that many art lovers simultaneously struggle to connect with original art they love and can afford. In order to solve this problem, they decided to leverage mobile technology to enhance visitor experiences at the 2012 South End Open Studios and to connect this app to an online platform that would enable people to purchase art conveniently from the studios, the venues or from home. The app featured 175 artists with hundreds of images, and over the weekend of the Open Studios event, the app attracted more than 8,000 views and led to discovery of artists and sales that would not otherwise have happened.

New Art Love subsequently created an app for Cambridge Open Studios, which listed close to 200 artists, and we are currently creating the app for Allston Arts District Open Studios, which will take place on on November 9th and 10th.

We are thankful for the support we have received from Boston’s arts and entrepreneurial communities, and we look forward to connecting with more of you as our enterprise continues to expand.
